In December, DomainTools, a cybersecurity company focused on threat intelligence, announced a strategic investment from Battery. It was the first institutional investment in DomainTools' nearly 20-year history; the Seattle company has grown organically from a niche provider of domain-name information into a cybersecurity market leader in Internet-scale data analytics and threat intelligence.
In November, Battery made a majority investment in StoneEagle F&I, a Texas company providing technology for auto dealers and others selling vehicle-related finance-and-insurance products. The company’s technology suite focuses on sales, service and reporting, as well as third-party administrative solutions.
A majority of shareholders of EASY SOFTWARE, a German public company, agreed to a voluntary takeover by Battery Ventures. EASY SOFTWARE is an established manufacturer of enterprise content-management software for customers in European, Asian and North American markets. Battery’s initial offer was first announced in July.
Process Sensing Technologies, a Battery company that manufactures instruments, analyzers and sensors for precision measurement and monitoring in a variety of critical industries, announced in December that global private-equity firm AEA Investors LP has made a majority investment in the company. Battery maintains a minority stake in the business.
In November, Battery announced the acquisition of Cimatron and GibbsCAM from 3D Systems, which will join Battery portfolio company SigmaTEK Systems, a CAD/CAM software provider serving professional fabricators. Cimatron and GibbsCAM will help offer a diverse set of design and machining software solutions across the fabrication, toolmaking, and production-machining industries.
1WorldSync* Acquires CNET Content Solutions and Snap36
In December, 1WorldSync* completed the acquisitions of CNET Content Solutions from Red Ventures and Snap36, a provider of rich and interactive, 360-degree product experiences for retailers and brands. Snap36 and CNET Content Solutions, whose technology facilitates the exchange of product information, rich content and e-commerce solutions, have been brought together under 1WorldSync to provide brands and retailers with end-to-end, product-content solutions, from supply-chain data to rich content that powers e-commerce.
Tech Soft 3D* Acquires Visual Kinematics and Ceetron AS
This past quarter, Tech Soft 3D, a prominent provider of engineering software development kits (SDKs), completed the acquisitions of Visual Kinematics and Ceetron AS. Visual Kinematics is the maker of DevTools, a suite of component SDKs for computer-aided engineering applications, while Ceetron makes 3D visualization technology for the computer-aided engineering community.
