AED-SICAD, ARC-GREENLAB restructure relationship

In July, AED-SICAD GmbH, a VertiGIS* company, and ARC-GREENLAB GmbH, a former joint subsidiary of AED, announced they have restructured their relationship but will continue to work closely together. VertiGIS makes location-intelligence technology.

SPT Life Sciences acquires LBD Life Sciences

In September, SPT Life Sciences*, a global group of technology companies focused on supporting the life-sciences industry to deliver more effective research, completed the acquisition of LBD Life Sciences, a supplier of instrumentation to the drug-discovery market in China. LBD Life Sciences will join a family of companies including SPT Labtech Ltd.* and Quantifoil*.

PrestoSports announces acquisition of ScoreShots

PrestoSports, a Clubessential Holdings* company, in August announced it has acquired ScoreShots, a maker of infographic and motion graphics for school-athletics programs. ScoreShots will integrate with PrestoSports' websites and StretchLive streaming platform so that sports and game highlights can easily be incorporated into motion-graphic posts on social media.

Battery promotes Paul Morrissey to partner in London

In September, Battery announced it has promoted Paul Morrissey to partner. Paul joined Battery in 2012, working out of the firm’s San Francisco office before eventually moving to London in 2016. Paul focuses on later-stage software investments, mainly in Europe, and has been involved in a number of Battery growth-equity and private equity investments in the U.S., Europe and Australia.

Zak Ewen and Duncan Gills promoted to principal

Battery also promoted Zak Ewen and Duncan Gills to principal. Zak joined Battery in 2010 before going to business school and returning in 2016. He works in Battery's London office and focuses on private equity and growth equity investments in software, information services and enterprise technology across Europe and North America. Duncan, who works in the San Francisco office, joined Battery in 2016 and focuses on growth and later-stage enterprise-software investments, including buyouts, carve-outs, take-privates, PIPES, and growth-equity deals.

Collier Searle joins Battery as a vice president

In September, Battery hired Collier Searle as a vice president. She is based in the firm’s Boston office and focuses on late-stage and buyout software investments. Prior to Battery, Collier spent two years as an associate at Apax Partners, where she focused on private equity investments in B2B software companies.

Battery adds three new analysts

In addition, Battery added three new analysts to the private-equity team. They include Anna Haigh, and Sajal Karki, both based in the San Francisco office and focused on software investments, and David Babikian, who is based in Boston and works on later-stage and buyout software deals.
